It is once again time for the Fandom of the Month Club review! If you’re new to this, check out either of my two previous posts to find out more about what this box is and what it offers. For everyone else, let’s get into it!
I was pleased when I got this box to see that it was a different color than my past two boxes. It’s just a little thing but it made me happy regardless.
Purple box this month! My favorite color too 🙂
Spoilers for this month’s theme and items after the Read More!
When I opened the box, 2 things immediately fell out:
The picture on the left is actually a magnet. Unfortunately, once I realized that this month’s fandom was Mario related, I became pretty disappointed. Growing up my family only had a computer and not any of those gaming devices that everyone else had, so Mario and all those other Nintendo games are not meaningful to me in any way. I’m sure there were plenty of people this month however who were very pleased by this box, I just don’t happen to be one of them.
But I shall finish this review regardless!
This month’s bag with the princess that presumably always needs saving? I’m very unknowledgeable about the characters and items in this month’s bag unfortunately. But if you’re still reading, you are probably a fan of this sort of thing and will likely have a much better idea of what all this stuff is.
The first item I pulled from the bag was this small ring with a question mark on it:
I don’t think this ring can be adjusted like past ones so I had to put it on my pinky finger because it was small and my fingers are fat. I also don’t know what the relevance of a question mark is to the game, but there you have it.
The second item in the bag was this necklace:
I think it is meant to be a game controller or something? I’m not entirely sure. I will likely gift all this jewelry to the first nerdy friend I find who wants it, so perhaps they can tell me.
There were two more items in the bag this month, but only one more piece of jewelry and it was this pair of earrings:
I’ve seen the little mushroom and star character things before but I don’t know what they do or what game they come from. They’re cute though, although the whites in the eyes are a little big.
And last of all was this keychain that was actually probably my favorite thing in this month’s bag:
More mushrooms and question marks and a strange flower thing.
I’m pretty meh about this month’s box, but given how much I’ve liked the past 2 boxes and most of the ones that came out before I started subscribing, I’m hopeful about next month’s box and future ones after that. Hopefully I can at least gift these things to a friend who will like them more than me.
November is going to be a big (and exciting) month for the company with the one-year anniversary and apparently that month the box is going to contain over $50 of jewelry with 5 pieces from the curator’s 5 favorite fandoms, so I’m very excited about that. And remember if you sign up for this next month’s box, your subscription will automatically renew (unless you cancel) so you can make sure you get in before the November box opens and possibly fills up.
That’s all for today’s review. I apologize that my lack of knowledge about any of the things I received makes the review a bit more boring, but I am excited that next month I will have 3 subscription boxes to review. Fandom of the Month Club, Uppercase, and … OwlCrate! Finally I got off the waitlist and was able to subscribe so stayed tuned for all of those.
